Terms of Service

Effective date: October 7, 2026

These Terms of Service govern your use of Restaurant Award. By accessing the website, creating an account, claiming a venue, or purchasing a subscription, you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy.

Eligibility and accounts

You must be legally able to enter into these terms. You are responsible for the accuracy of information submitted through your account and for protecting access to one-time login links. Notify us promptly at [email protected] if you believe your account has been accessed without authorization.

Restaurant rankings and awards

Restaurant Scores, rankings, comparisons, and awards are analytical outputs calculated from available data. They are not restaurant inspections, professional reviews, endorsements, guarantees of quality, or promises of future performance. Source data may be incomplete, delayed, duplicated, or inaccurate, and rankings may change whenever data or methodology changes.

Restaurant Award provides information for general informational and business-intelligence purposes. You remain responsible for decisions made using the service.

Venue claims and owner content

You may claim or edit a venue only if you are authorized to act for that business. We may request verification, reject or pause a claim, reverse access, or resolve conflicting ownership requests.

The verified owner of a claimed venue can add profile text, images, links, opening hours, contact details, and other information, with or without Premium. Without Premium, this content is a private draft that only the owner can see; with Premium, it is published on the venue's public profile. When Premium ends, the content is removed from the public profile but kept, and it is published again when Premium is restored.

By submitting content, you confirm that it is accurate and that you have the right to use it. You grant Restaurant Award a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, format, publish, and display it to operate and promote the venue profile and Restaurant Award. Factual business information you provide, such as opening hours, business contact details, website and social links, cuisine, services, and amenities, may also be used to verify and improve restaurant data, including data that BeamStation, the business-data service behind Restaurant Award, provides to its customers. This use can continue after you change or remove the information. We may format content, and we may decline or remove content that is inaccurate, unlawful, or in breach of these terms.

Premium subscriptions

Premium is a paid subscription for one venue location. Only the verified owner of a claimed venue can buy it, and it applies only to that venue. Each venue needs its own subscription. Payments are processed by Stripe; Restaurant Award does not store complete payment-card details.

Prices. Prices are set for each venue location and can differ between venues, including venues in the same city. They depend on factors such as the size and competitiveness of the venue's market and the venue's award standing. Your price and your renewal price are shown to you before checkout and apply only to the venue they were shown for. Plan options and prices shown can differ between venues and over time, including as part of tests; the price shown to you before checkout is the one you pay. Prices are in US dollars; applicable taxes are shown at checkout.

Billing and renewal. Premium is billed in advance, yearly or, where a monthly plan is offered, monthly. When a first-year price is offered, the first year of a yearly plan is charged at that price. A first-year price applies only to a venue's first subscription; after a cancellation, a new subscription for the same venue is charged the regular price. A yearly subscription renews automatically every year at the regular yearly price shown before checkout, and a monthly subscription renews automatically every month at the monthly price shown before checkout, until you cancel. We email you a reminder before each yearly renewal with the amount and the renewal date.

Switching from monthly to yearly. You can switch a monthly subscription to yearly at any time from the venue's account page. If the venue's first subscription is still running, the switch is charged at the first-year price offered for the venue; otherwise at the regular yearly price. The price is shown before you confirm. The switch is charged at once, minus a credit for the unused part of the current month, and the yearly term starts on that day. If the payment fails, nothing changes.

Cancellation. You can cancel at any time from the venue's subscription page in your account. Canceling stops the next renewal; Premium and the award license stay active until the end of the billing period (year or month) you have paid for. Apart from the money-back guarantee below or where required by law, payments are non-refundable, including for unused parts of a billing period.

30-day money-back guarantee. You can request a full refund of the payments for a venue's first Premium subscription, monthly or yearly, that were made within 30 days of its first payment, including a switch to yearly in that time. Request it within those 30 days by emailing [email protected]. The refund goes to the original payment method. When it is issued, the subscription ends at once, and with it Premium and the award license that comes with it. The guarantee applies once per venue: you can subscribe again at any time, but a later subscription for the same venue is not covered by it.

Failed payments. If the first payment fails, Premium is not activated. If a renewal payment fails, Premium stays active for 7 days from the renewal date while the payment is retried and you can update your payment details. If the payment has still not gone through after those 7 days, Premium and the award license that comes with it are suspended, and the venue returns to the free claimed profile. Your profile content is kept, and Premium is restored when the outstanding invoice is paid. If the invoice stays unpaid, we may cancel the subscription.

Changes to price or features. We may change the regular yearly or monthly price or the Premium features for future billing periods. We will email you at least 30 days before a price change applies to your renewal, and you can cancel before it takes effect. A change never affects a billing period you have already paid for, unless required by law.

Change of venue ownership. Premium belongs to the venue's claim. If a claim is reversed or passes to another account, for example after the business is sold, the previous account loses Premium access and the award license for that venue. Contact us so that we can cancel or transfer the subscription.

Award use and license

Restaurant Award names, award titles, badges, seals, certificates, graphics, downloadable files, embed codes, and other award or marketing materials are licensed, not sold. A venue may display, publish, reproduce, distribute, or otherwise use these materials only while the award is valid, the account using them holds the venue's claim, and an award license is active. No permission is granted for another venue, account, business, location, category, ranking, or award period.

When an award license is active. An award license is active (a) during the free award period, which covers the first 30 days after the venue is claimed, and (b) while the venue has active Premium, including the 7-day grace period after a failed renewal payment. If the venue was claimed before we introduced the free award period, its 30 days start on the day we introduced it. The free award period applies once per claim; the date it ends is shown in your account.

Hosted website badge. The badge embed code from your account may stay on your website after the award license ends. The hosted badge then shows "Listed on RestaurantAward.com" instead of the award and links to the venue's page on Restaurant Award. It shows the award again while an award license is active. We may change how the hosted badge looks, or disable it, at any time.

When the license ends. The award license ends automatically when the free award period runs out and Premium is not active, and when Premium ends: when a cancellation takes effect, when a refund is issued, when the grace period after a failed renewal payment runs out, or when the subscription otherwise expires or terminates, unless the free award period is still running. It also ends for an account that no longer holds the venue's claim. The account holder and venue must then immediately stop all use and remove every award reference and asset from every location under their control, including websites, social profiles, advertisements, email, menus, signs, printed material, press material, third-party listings, and previously downloaded or copied files. The only exception is the hosted website badge described above. Public archival display is not permitted after the license ends. If an award license becomes active again later, for example with Premium, it resumes for awards that are still valid.

Canceling does not end the license before the paid billing period ends. Once the award license ends, continued display or use of award materials is unauthorized. Restaurant Award may disable hosted assets and publication tokens, request proof of removal, and take reasonable steps to enforce its intellectual-property and contractual rights.

Acceptable use

You may not:

  • Use the service unlawfully, fraudulently, or to impersonate another person or business.
  • Submit false ownership information or attempt to take control of a venue without authorization.
  • Interfere with security, rate limits, authentication, infrastructure, or other users.
  • Scrape, copy, resell, or systematically extract the service except as permitted in writing or by applicable law.
  • Upload malicious code or content that infringes privacy, intellectual-property, or other rights.
  • Misrepresent a Restaurant Score, ranking, or award as an official government rating or human inspection.

Intellectual property

Restaurant Award, Restaurant Score presentation, site design, software, and original content are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Restaurant names, logos, and third-party marks belong to their respective owners. Listing a business does not imply sponsorship or affiliation.

Third-party services and links

The service may link to third-party websites and use third-party data or infrastructure. We do not control those services and are not responsible for their content, availability, policies, or actions.

Service availability

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features and may restrict access to protect the service or comply with law. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or that every restaurant will always be listed.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Restaurant Award is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of accuracy, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Restaurant Award and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or lost-profit damages arising from use of the service.

Suspension and termination

You may stop using Restaurant Award at any time. We may suspend or terminate access when reasonably necessary to address a violation of these terms, a security or ownership dispute, non-payment, legal requirements, or material risk to the service or its users.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service evolves. Material updates will be posted with a revised effective date, and owners with an account will be told by email before they take effect. Continued use after an update takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
