Effective date: October 12, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Restaurant Award collects, uses, and shares information when you browse our website, claim a venue, create an owner account, manage a subscription, or contact us.
Information we collect
Depending on how you use Restaurant Award, we may collect:
- Account and contact information, including your name, email address, phone number, business name, and website.
- Venue-claim information, including claim codes, ownership details, the phone number and codes used for verification, verification results, and communications with our team.
- Communication preferences, including whether you have unsubscribed from optional owner guidance.
- Owner profile content that venue owners add, such as descriptions, images, contact details, links, social profiles, and answers to common questions, including drafts that are not yet published.
- Subscription information, including the price offered for your venue, subscription, renewal, and payment status, and Stripe customer, subscription, and invoice references. Payment details are entered with Stripe; Restaurant Award does not store complete payment-card details.
- Usage and device information, such as pages viewed, the Premium pages, offers, and buttons owners view or click, browser type, approximate location derived from network information, referring pages, and diagnostic logs.
- Messages you send us, including support, press, data-correction, and ownership-verification requests.
Public restaurant data
Restaurant Award also processes publicly available business-listing information, ratings, review counts and timing, location information, social-presence signals, and related restaurant data. This information is used to calculate Restaurant Scores, produce rankings, and maintain restaurant profiles.
How we use information

- Calculate scores, rankings, market comparisons, and data-freshness indicators.
- Verify venue ownership and provide owner-account access, including one-time sign-in links sent by email.
- Set the Premium price for each venue location and show it to the venue's verified owner.
- Send claim and account notices, onboarding guidance, feature education, and practical tips for using Restaurant Award.
- Process and administer subscriptions and requested services, including renewal reminders and notices about failed payments.
- Deliver the award, ranking, competitor, and reputation alerts included with Premium.
- Understand how owners discover and use Premium, including by comparing versions of our pages.
- Verify and improve restaurant data, as described in "Owner profile content and BeamStation" below.
- Respond to support, correction, privacy, and media enquiries.
- Detect misuse, fraud, security incidents, and violations of our terms.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our rights.
How we share information
We may share information with:
- Service providers that support hosting, analytics, email and text-message delivery, communications, security, databases, and customer support.
- BeamStation, the business-data service behind Restaurant Award, which runs the systems for subscriptions, pricing, messaging, and restaurant data for us, and which receives the factual business information described in "Owner profile content and BeamStation" below.
- Stripe and related payment providers when you start or manage a paid subscription.
- Authorities or other parties when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect people, Restaurant Award, or the public.
- A successor organization in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets.
We do not sell personal information for money.
Owner communications and email choices
When you submit or complete a venue claim, we use the owner email address to verify and administer the claim and account, and we sign you in with one-time links sent to that address. We may also send occasional onboarding guidance, feature education, and practical tips intended to help owners use Restaurant Award effectively.
Premium owners also receive the alerts included with their subscription, and service messages about billing, such as renewal reminders and notices about failed payments. Each alert email explains how to stop receiving it.
You can unsubscribe from non-essential guidance emails at any time by using the unsubscribe link in the message. Unsubscribing from optional guidance does not stop service messages that are necessary to verify a claim, secure or administer an account, manage a subscription, or respond to a request.
Owner profile content and BeamStation
Profile content that a venue's verified owner adds is published on the venue's public profile while the venue has Premium. Until then it is a draft that only the owner and our team can see.
Factual business information that owners add, such as opening hours, business contact details, website and social links, cuisine, services, and amenities, may also be used to verify and improve restaurant data, including data that BeamStation, the business-data service behind Restaurant Award, provides to its customers. This does not include your owner-account email address, your verification phone number, your payment information, or other account details, unless you enter them as the venue's public contact details. Do not enter a personal phone number or email address as a business contact detail if you do not want it to appear in restaurant data.
Cookies and analytics
We use a small number of cookies for account access, page preferences and measurement:
- raward_analytics_consent remembers your optional Google Analytics preference for up to 180 days.
- raward_tracking_journey connects the first and latest campaign sources with the Premium journey for up to 90 days.
- raward_session keeps you signed in to your owner account for up to 30 days.
- raward_premium_lander_v1 remembers which version of the Premium page you were shown, for up to 90 days, so that it stays the same on later visits.
- feature_preview_offer remembers, for 15 minutes, a feature preview you opened from a link in one of our emails, so that it is still available after you sign in.
Your browser's local storage also keeps your theme choice, your progress through dashboard guides and tips, and cached map data on your device. We measure aggregate site usage and performance with Umami, an analytics tool that does not use cookies. Some measured events record which restaurant page or button was involved, such as a Premium button on a venue page, but not your name or email address. We do not use advertising or cross-site advertising cookies. If you allow analytics, we also use Google Analytics 4 to measure visits, campaign sources and the Premium purchase journey, including verified purchases and refunds. Google receives a pseudonymous browser identifier and, when you are signed in, a pseudonymous account identifier, sanitized page addresses, campaign information and purchase amounts, currency and product details. We do not send your name, email, phone number, private profile content or sign-in tokens to Google Analytics. Google's analytics cookies identify a browser; advertising storage, advertising personalization and Google signals are disabled. Google may process analytics data outside your country. See Google's privacy policy. Google Analytics loads only after you allow it. You can decline or withdraw consent using Change cookie preferences below. The preference is remembered for up to 180 days; withdrawing stops future collection and clears the site's Google analytics cookies. Withdrawal does not erase data already received by Google. Your browser may let you restrict cookies or local storage; if you block the session cookie, you will not be able to sign in.
Retention and security
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain business and security records, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. Owner profile content, including drafts, is kept while the venue's claim exists, so that it can be published when the venue has Premium. Payment, invoice, and tax records are kept for as long as the law requires. We use administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect information, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or an objection to certain processing. Venue owners can update eligible public-profile information from their dashboard. You may opt out of non-essential owner guidance at any time without affecting claim verification or essential account messages. To make a privacy request, email [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
Children
Restaurant Award is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
International use
Restaurant Award is focused on restaurants in the United States. If you access the service from another country, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where our providers operate.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service changes. The effective date above identifies the latest published version. If a change materially affects how we use owner information, we will email owners with an account before it takes effect.
